July 17, 1931 ~ June 26, 2021 (age 89) 89 Years Old

William Wells Obituary

  William (Bud) Wells, age 89 years, passed away peacefully at his Visalia home on Saturday, June 26, 2021.  William was the youngest of eight children of Delaware Bowman Wells and Clara Irene Swanson. William was predeceased by siblings Susan Irene Stuart, Maxine Skeen, James Macon, Robert Walter, Donald Bowman, Lemuel Swanson, and Maude Virginia Ledbetter. Bud was also preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Joan Hageman-Douglas and sons Dennis Michael and David Joseph.  Bud is survived by daughter Gracelyn Garay-Gutierez, of Stephenville, Texas, and son Alan Perry Wells of Visalia.  Bud is also survived by grandchildren William Wells, John Wells, Jason Garay, Angela Garay, Amber Garay, Joshua Garay, Jordan Hanni, Heather Wells, Kelly Wells, Michael Wells, Audrey Wells, and Summer Wells. Bud is survived by numerous great-grandchildren.  

  Bud graduated from Redwood High School in the class of 1948, College of the Sequoias in 1950, and attended UC Davis.  William served in the Korean Conflict in the Gulf of Tonkin on the aircraft carrier USS Boxer.  Bud was a 4-H leader for numerous decades and taught school in Visalia and Tulare.  William was a commercial walnut harvester in Tulare County, operated a dairy at Venice Hill, farmed row crops in Strathmore, and worked raising cattle and walnuts in the Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Barbara County

A memorial service for William will be held on Wednesday, July 21st, 2021 at 9:15 A.M. at the Bakersfield National Cemetery, 30338 E. Bear Moutain Blvd., Arvin, Ca. 93203.
