Vernon Paul Wilson, 84, of Exeter, California, passed away on January 17th, 2024, surrounded by family. Vernon was born to Blanche and Marian Wilson on September 11th, 1939, in Exeter, California.
Vernon had a career full of education. He retired from Sunnyside Elementary School after 24 years. Since he was still a young man, he decided to go back to college and earn his master’s degree in computer education. He taught various short-term positions, including some college courses, before he and his brother, Oscar, saw the need for a caregiver for their father. Vernon moved in with his father, where he and Oscar would take turns for many years taking Grandpa Wilson to see their mother.
Vernon became disabled a few years after his father had passed. He finished out his years a couple of blocks from his daughter with a couple of wonderful caregivers to help. Vernon kept himself busy with his model train hobby he began as a child.
Vernon held many titles and qualifications, but his most proud accomplishments include being called “dad” and “grandpa”. He will be so missed by every life he touched.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, brother Oscar, and son Kyle.
Services will be held on February 17th, 2024, at 10:00AM at Church of God in Exeter. Vernon grew up and has been a member of the church all his life, even when he was too ill to attend.
Vernon is survived by his daughter, Kim Stepp, and her husband Kevin. Vernon is also survived by his grandchildren, Adam, Ashley (Ryan), Hayden (Kayla), and Samantha (Elliot).
