Obituary

Bill G. Diamond was born in Ranger, TX in 1927 and went to heaven in 2016. Thelma was born in Murphy, OK in 1929 and met her Lord and Savior on July 26, 2023. She had just celebrated her 94th birthday when the Lord called her home.

Bill and Thelma met in Woodlake, CA in 1948 and were married for 68 years, spending the last 24 of those in Cottonwood, AZ.

Bill went off to WW2 when he was 17, after his mother gave her permission. Upon his return he went to Butcher School and eventually bought his own grocery store, Diamond's Market. He and Thelma worked together until they sold it in 1970. Bill then went to work for Harris Beef Ranch and Thelma was a Teacher's Aid at Woodlake High School. Thelma stayed busy taking woodworking and plumbing classes. She also took up oil painting and her favorite; China Painting. She also made quilts for her family and worked on the family genealogy.

They decided to retire in Arizona because Bill loved the desert and exploring the old ghost towns. They took off in their 5th wheel with their beloved dogs and looked up some of those long lost relatives Thelma discovered in her research. They had lots of wonderful adventures together.

they were both members of the Clarkdale Baptist Church. After Bill passed away, Thelma decided to move to Prescott Valley to be closer to Jim and Billie. She lived there and in Prescott for the last 5 years. She had many good friends there and in Cottonwood. Thelma is survived by her two daughters, Gayle (David) Bearden of El Dorado Hills, CA., Billie German of Prescott, AZ., four grandchildren, Kelli (Shane) Gilbert, Blain Bibb, Mike (Jackie) Bearden, and Laura Sappington, also 13 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, Walter Speir and Edna Lorimor Speir, her brothers, Robert and Roger Speir, and her son-in-law, Jim German.

Thelma was on hospice for the last 9 months and had excellent care. Although she only spent her last 6 weeks at the Landings of Prescott Valley, the people are top notch and she liked it there very much. Both Hospice Compassus and The Landings made us feel like family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Salvation Army, Samaritans Purse, or Hospice Compassus of Prescott Valley. We were very fortunate to have had Bill and Thelma Diamond as our parents and grandparents. We will miss them very much but we will see them again in heaven, and that we know for sure.

A celebration of Life for Bill and Thelma will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Smith Family Chapel at 11:00 A.M....
