Shirley Jane Jackson (Nottingham) 1943 - 2026
Shirley Jane Jackson (Nottingham), 82, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, in Visalia, California. Born on July 23, 1943, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Shirley lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others. She graduated from Hulbert High School in Hulbert, Oklahoma, in 1961. In 1976, Shirley became a licensed beautician—a profession that reflected her creativity and dedication to caring for others. Much of her life was also devoted to caregiving for several family members, offering comfort and support with unwavering compassion. A devout Christian from childhood, Shirley gave her life to Christ early and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. For over fifty years, she was a faithful member of the Farmersville Free Will Baptist Church. Her love for the Lord guided her actions and was evident in her kind spirit and servant’s heart. Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Carl Jackson; her parents, David C. Nottingham and Nancy J. Nottingham; two brothers; eight sisters; and two sons-in-law, Nathan Laurie and Alan Nusse of whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her three daughters: Shirlene Laurie of Fort Worth, Texas; Cathy Hunter and husband Hal Hunter of Visalia, California; and Brenda Pitts and husband Raymond Pitts of Exeter, California. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who will continue to honor the legacy of love she instilled in them. A Graveside Service will be held on January 16, 2026, at 9:30 AM at Exeter Public Cemetery, 719 E Marinette Ave. A Celebration of Life, at 10:30 and luncheon will follow at the Farmersville Free Will Baptist Church, 239 S.
