Richard Addis

 Richard "Dick" Addis

                         Richard Lee Addis was born January 15, 1942, in Bakersfield, CA, and passed away September 28, 2021, in Visalia, CA.  Richard was the oldest of two sons born to Pauline and Richard Addis and was raised in Bakersfield.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis, and his parents. Richard and Phyllis were high school sweethearts and met at Bakersfield High School where he played football and graduated in 1960.  They went on to have three children and seven grandchildren together during their 53 year marriage.
                         Richard worked in the oilfields in Kern county before moving north and eventually settling in Lemon  Cove, CA, in 1972 to raise his family.  In 1974, he and his wife bought the Green Olive in Visalia, CA, which he still owned at the time of his passing.  Through the years he sponsored and played on softball teams, pool tournaments and dart tournaments.
                         Richard loved his family, his bar and his little lemon ranch in Lindsay.  In earlier years he golfed as often as he could, always carrying his golf clubs in his truck "just in case".  Boating with his kids was also a favorite pastime.  Taking the "yellow boat" to Lake Tahoe every summer was something we all looked forward to.
                         Richard is survived by his brother, Chuck Addis and wife Cindi of Indiana; his children and their  spouses:  Leslie and Joe Stewart of Exeter, CA; Rich and Michelle Addis of Hillsboro, OR; Erika and Derek Hughes of Fairfield, CA, and grandchildren Brooke Addis, Breanne Banuelos, Keeley and husband Gregg Douglas, Nathaniel Stewart, Brady Banuelos, Elizabeth Stewart and Evan Stewart, step-grandchildren Zach Gillson, Heather Hughes and Thomas Hughes.  Richard was also a great-grandfather to one and a great-stepgrandfather to five little ones that called him Papa like all the rest.
                         A celebration of life will be held on October 6th, 2021 in Visalia at The Woodlands, 4211 West Goshen Avenue at 2:00.
