Primo Geno Marconi
October 30, 1934 – February 4, 2026
The Measure of This Man
Not how did he die, but how did he live?
Not what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the measures of his true worth,
Not by circumstance of birth,
But by the love he shared and the lives he touched.
Not the height of success he reached along the way,
Nor the integrity he lived by every day,
But how many hearts were saddened the day he passed away.
He did it his way, and those who crossed his path followed,
And his way will live on in all of us.
Primo Geno Marconi was born on October 30, 1934, in Torrance, California. From the very beginning, he understood the value of hard work. At just seven years old, he began picking radishes — a job he proudly remembered and spoke of fondly for the rest of his life.
He attended Carson Elementary School, where he earned the unforgettable title of “Oatmeal Chef.” By seventeen, he was working at Associated Gas Station, already demonstrating the determination and work ethic that would shape his future. In the summer of 1953, he graduated from Banning High School, ready to take on the world.
In 1954, encouraged by friends to crash a party Leah was hosting for a friend, Primo met the love of his life. That single evening changed everything. Primo and Leah married in August of 1956 and built a life grounded in devotion and partnership. Together they welcomed their daughters, Pam and Christi, forming the heart of the family he cherished above all else.
Primo’s early career reflected his independent spirit and love of machinery. Owning and operating dump trucks and water trucks, he worked with Granite Construction and Ferrante Construction, leaving his mark on freeways, bridges, and water treatment plants throughout California and beyond. In the 1970’s, he joined F.T. Ziebarth Engineering Construction Company, where he spent many fulfilling years doing the work he truly loved until his retirement in 1994.
Two years before retiring, Primo and Leah began building their dream retirement home on five acres in Lindsay, California. There was room for everything he loved — tractor, mechanics truck, backhoe, pick-up — and space to live life on his own terms. It was more than a home; it was a reflection of the man himself: strong, capable, independent, and built with his own hands.
Throughout his life, Primo did things his way — firmly, confidently, and without apology. Those who crossed his path often found themselves following his lead, drawn by his conviction, integrity, and steady presence. His life was built on hard work, loyalty, and love — and that legacy lives on in the many hearts he touched.
Primo leaves behind his beloved wife, Leah; his daughters, Pam and Christi; his grandchildren, Nicole, Sean, Blake, and Neil; and his great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jackson, Logan, and Charlotte; and sister Ginger - each of whom carries forward a part of his strength, determination, and enduring spirit.
