Paul Stinnett Obituary

Paul Warner Stinnett was born on September 18, 1931 in Salem, Arkansas to parents, Joseph Anderson Stinnett and Pansy Hord Stinnett. Paul and his family moved to Paso Robles, CA in 1942. He graduated from Paso Robles High School and San Luis Obispo Junior College. Paul played basketball and baseball in highschool and junior college where he received many awards for his exceptional athletic abilities. To many people's surprise, Paul was also in the San Luis Obispo Junior College Choir. He loved fishing, hunting, playing and watching sports, as well as, a special love for the Dodgers. In 1953, Paul moved with his family when they purchased the Western Auto Store in Delano, CA. While in Delano, he became an avid bowler and bowled a 299 out of 300 score in a tournament at the old downtown bowling alley in Visalia, CA. One of his bowling buddies introduced him to the love of his life, Janice Spangler, and they were married in 1965. They had 3 daughters while living in Delano.

In 1973, Paul and Janice moved to Exeter, CA and purchased the Western Auto Store in downtown Exeter. Paul was a merchant for 42 years with 22 years in Delano and 20 years in Exeter. Paul and his wife worked together all 20 years in Exeter.

Paul and Janice coached the Western Auto softball team in Exeter for 8 years, which brought many fun memories with their daughters and players.

They were retired for 32 years and during that time they travelled to enjoy family and friends, especially their grandchildren.

Janice and Paul were blessed to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary in October 2025. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice, daughters: Cheryl Duran, Tracy Jacobs, and Teresa Vegas, sons-in-law: Ernie Duran, Jimmy Jacobs, and Chad Vegas, seven grandchildren: Brenna, Seth, Madison, Jared, Larissa, Anna Kate, and Nia, ten great grandchildren and one on the way, plus many relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother, Joe Stinnett, and his sister, Juanita Reiger.

Paul was a happy and gentle man that loved the Lord Jesus Christ his Savior and his family with all his heart. Anyone that knew him enjoyed his sweet smile, the twinkle in his eyes, and his kind, loving, and welcoming spirit. He will be forever loved and always remembered.
