Steve is a 1983 Woodlake High School graduate where he excelled in wrestling and football.
Steve was a roofer and carpenter, obtaining his Journeyman certification after joining the Carpenters union in 2006.
In 1990 he married Yvonne Arroyo, raising their children out on the family ranch. He was extremely proud of his kids and dearly loved his sons-In-law.
Steve had many interests; he loved woodworking, playing chess and horseshoes and riding his mountain bike and dirt bike. Steve was fascinated by Big Foot and time travel and he and Yvonne had a running bet on if/when a Big Foot would be discovered. Steve was always busy helping friends and neighbors and working on projects around the ranch.
Steve is survived by his wife Yvonne, mother Barbara Sweeney, daughter Kayla Sweeney, daughter Chelsea Hinder and husband Luke, daughter Stevie Severson and husband Trevor, Son Mitchell Steven II, and grandchildren, Rebecca Corona, Nathan McCoy, Roman Chapman and Carter Severson. He is also survived by his siblings: Brother Mike Sweeney and wife Vikki, Sister Sherry Jump and husband Jim, and his brother Darryl Sweeney and fiancé Denise, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Bud Sweeney and his Sister Debra Fonseca.
Steve was loved by so many. This world is a less interesting place without Steve in it. He was the source of many stories; fun, unbelievable and legendary.
Our hearts will never be the same. Till we see you again Big Red....
