Michael Morris joined his parents, Jim and Margaret Morris, in Heaven on October 13, 2022 at the age of 72. He was born and raised in Exeter, where he was known to many as Thud. He spent most of his early childhood days on horseback or running around with his brother. After high school, Mike attended Fresno Technical College and graduated with a degree in General Automotive Mechanics. In 1969, he joined the Army. He then reenlisted for a second term. During that time, Mike spent almost a year and a half overseas in Panama where he helped train fellow soldiers in Jungle School. While in the Army, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. In 1974, Mike moved to Santa Cruz. He made a lot of great memories there, which eventually included the births of his two daughters, Kara Fanning and Linzy McBride. During that time, he was an avid coed softball player and a huge Oakland A’s fan. In 1989, Mike and his family returned to his hometown of Exeter. He became known around town for his exemplary carpentry skills. He prided himself on the quality of his work. Mike was extremely crafty and came up with many clever projects that he often gifted to friends. He thoroughly enjoyed attending church, meeting up at the local coffee shop and spending time with all his grandkids. He was an incredible brother to his siblings, Tim Morris and Michele LeClerc. He was truly a one of a kind man, and an extraordinary father, stepfather and grandfather. One of his friends put it perfectly by saying “God was proud to shake his hand”. Mike will be greatly missed by all who loved him, family and friends alike.
