Mary Maude Jennings

Mary Maude King, born December 17th, 1935 to Ruth E. Staddden and Jeard King in Phoenix, AZ. At an early age, the King Family moved back to Central California. At age 3, her mother divorced and moved to Tipton, CA. to live with her grandparents. Her brother, George W. King was soon born. At age 6, her mother was admitted to the Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Springville, CA. For the next 10 years, she was raised by her grandparents. During this time, she also suffered from a case of Polio.

After graduating from Tulare Union High School, she left for Pasadena to attend Pasadena College, now Point Loma Nazarene College. After returning home to Tulare, she met the love of her life, James M. T. Jennings. After courting for a few years, he soon proposed and on June 15, 1957, they became husband & wife. A few years later, they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Cheryl Annette. James soon caught the attention of the restaurant chain he was working as a line cook/assistant manager. They offered him his own unit in Santa Monica, CA. The upper management had watched his career, soon promoting him to National Training Manager. This eventually brought his small family to Wichita Falls, TX where Mary Maude was pregnant with her second child and soon delivered a son, James Michael.

Mary Maude moved with Jim’s career and eventually led them and their family to move to the Los Angeles area in 1971. She became a member of the Bellflower Church of the Nazarene where she was a member for 32 years before retiring and moving back to Tulare.

Mary Maude became ill with Alzheimer’s and dementia and finally succumbed to the complications, passing quietly into Glory, with her children beside her on September 3rd, 2024 at the age of 88.

She is preceded into glory by her grandparents, mother, brother and many other friends and family. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Annette (Jennings) Ramsey, son-in-law Gary W. Ramsey, son James Michael Jennings, Granddaughter, Juliette Alyse Ramsey and her 2 great-grandchildren Casandra Lynn Ramsey and James Tyler Ramsey.

There will be a Celebration of Marys Life on Saturday, October 12th, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at the Tulare Church of the Nazarene, 1929 E. Bardsley Ave., Tulare.
