Mary "Mickey" Duarte

Mary M. (Cooper) Duarte passed at the age of 88 from this earth on January 11, 2023. She is survived by her Step-son Ron Duarte and Step-daughter Carolyn (Duarte) Sutton and beloved relatives in Canada and Scotland. 
Born January 23, 1934, Mary came to the US with her mother and sisters when she was 15, graduated from high school and went to work for the phone company. Her career there spanned 34 years. She jokingly said last year that she had been retired as long as she had worked. She met and married Ted Duarte in Los Angeles before they moved to Visalia in the 1950’s. They were blessed with over 50 years together. They both enjoyed church and friends together. Mickey had a great memory for numbers. She seemed to be able to remember peoples phone numbers right away. Her love of knitting kept her busy. She was an expert knitter and blessed many people with her beautiful pieces. Helping animals was important to her and she supported local animal shelters along with feeding some of her neighborhood cats. 
Mickey requested there be no service. 
She will be buried at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery with her beloved Husbsnd Ted. 
Thank you so much to all of her friends who have helped her this last year as her health declined. She appreciated you all greatly.
