MARJORIE WINTON SCHELLING OBITURARY
Marjorie Raylene Winton Schelling, age 84, passed away on August 20,2024 in her hometown of Visalia, CA. Born on May 27, 1940, in Visalia, she spent her life immersed in the community that she loved.
Marjorie’s youthful spirit was evident during her high school years at Redwood High School, where she was a Yell Leader and she served as Worthy Advisor for the Rainbow Girls. Her grace and beauty were recognized in various local pageants, where she received numerous honors. Marjorie dedicated her professional life to education, serving as both a teacher and guidance counselor at Golden West High School. Her commitment to nurturing young minds was only paralleled by her devotion to her family.
Her personal life was rich with hobbies that included gardening, canning and enjoying the great outdoors. Marjorie cherished her camping trips to Sequoia National Park and Pismo Beach with her family. These trips were filled with much love, laughter and joy.
Marjorie is survived by a loving family: her sons, Eric and Brian Schelling, daughter Michele Schulz; sons-in-law John Berglund and John Schulz; daughters-in-law Holly and Debbi Schelling; grandchildren Wyatt and Chet Berglund, Joshua Schelling, Sarah Schelling Mahaffey and husband Ian, Ethan Schelling and Samuel Schulz; her sisters, Janice Hartman, Barbara Winton and Joyce Pluckebaum, along with countless relatives who felt her warmth and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Natalia Schelling Berglund; husband Robert "Bob" Schelling and life partner Lee Hettick; parents, Alma and Keith Winton, and brother Donald Winton.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Exeter District Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Smith Family Chapel.
