Karen Elaine Ortiz passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at the age of 75 Years. Karen lived behind her daughter Carrie Ortiz of Farmersville and Step Son David Ortiz of Texas who she treated as her own son. All together she left behind 11 kids who she loved and adored when she married Gregorio Ortiz. The had one daughter together, that is Carrie Elaine Ortiz and then she gained 10 step children who she loved as her own. Karen leaves behind all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Karen also leaves behind a sister, Ruth Lambert of Pocatello, Idaho. She is preceded in death by her parents John Henry and Jenny Irene Kemp, her brothers, Robert Kemp and Jay W. Kemp, and her husband Gregorio Ortiz, and step son Raymond Ortiz.
Karen Elaine Ortiz was born on October 29, 1950 in Exeter, California to John Henry and Jenny Irene Kemp. In Early years Karen attended Farmersville Elementary schools and part of her high school year at Exeter Union High School until her junior year. She then moved to Washington and graduated from Walla Washington High School. She lived in Farmersville all of her life. She lived in Washington for 7 years and then came back to Farmersville. In 1975 she met her husband Gregorio Ortiz and they had a loving daughter Carrie Elaine Ortiz of Farmersville. She had her own business of being a landlord for 55 years, she owned rental properties. She was a very caring and loving mother and her family is her world, her everything. She always had a lot of animals all of her life. She had 15 to 27 dogs. She loved rescuing animals from the streets that people had abandoned. Her and her husband and daughter shared the same passion for rescuing animals and taking them in like family. She also had a love for cats, chickens, birds, rabbits, and fish. That is Karen’s legacy, the love of animals and being a hard worker and a business owner. Her legacy will be carried out through her daughter. Karen lived in Farmersville for 68 years and she was married to her husband for 42 years. She loved every holiday and very active in the community. The final goodbye will be at Exeter Cemetery Friday, December 5th. Only for family and close friends at 9:00 A.M.
