A private graveside service will be Fnday, January 19th at 10:00 am at the Exeter DIstrict Cemetery. Immediately following at 11:00 am, there will be a huge party, celebrating her life
at 137 Events, 137 S. E Street, Exeter, CA 93221.
JoAnn Dodson went to be with the Lord on January 14th, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. She was born on April 22nd, 1941 in Modesto, CA to Douglas and Mildred Sperry. She lived in
Patterson, CA through her sophomore year, when she moved to Oxnard, CA where she met the love of her life, Joe Dodson. They were married on January 13th, 1962. Together they raised
two beautiful daughters and co-parented Joe's sons. At the age of 32, JoAnn triumphed in her battle with breast cancer. JoAnn and Joe started their restaurants, Don's Drive-In and
T-Burgers, in Camarillo CA, until their dream of becoming citrus farmers was fulfilled and they moved to Exeter, CA 1976. At which time JoAnn immersed herself in the community of Exeter
and made it her nome
JoAnn became a well known face in the Exeter community. JoAnn, along with her nusbano Joe, purchased Happy Hot Dog and opened Exeter Irrigation and Supply. JoAnn was involved in
many organizations and community projects. The closest to her heart were Exeter Relay for Life, guiding mural tours around town and establishing the downtown pictures with Santa on
Thursday nights. Another passion was founding the S.O.U.L. Sisters (Single Outrageous Unique Ladies) in 1889. JoAnn had a love for traveling and got to travel the world many times with close
friends and family.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Joe Dodson, mother Mildred Sperry-Dixon, father Douglas Sperry and stepfather William Dixon. She is survived by her daughters, Kim
Kleinhans (Eric), Janice Borba (Mike), stepsons Danny Edge & Richard Dodson, brother Bob Sperry (Donna), and sister Shirly Dixon-Reese. She is survived by grandchildren Ashley
Greiner (Joel), Blake Kleinhans (Brittany), Ethan Kleinhans (Samatha), Shelbey Loeffler (Cameron), Maci Rodriguez (Jacob), and Emily Edge. Great grandchildren Raegan, Rylee,
Kooper, Elliott, Colt, Lainey, Jacob Jr., Gunner and Blaise. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Jennifer Bardone for taking care of JoAnn in her final months. We would also like to thank Prestige Assisted Living at Visalia for
their carrying support in the familys time of need
