Jill Johnson Obituary

Jill Ann Johnson was born on August 21st, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, to John "Jack" Everhardy and Helen "Hada" Staggs. Though she tragically lost her father at just three years old—he gave his life serving in Normandy during WWII-Jill grew up with a spirited heart and a resilient soul that would become the cornerstone of the extraordinary life she lived. Jill passed away peacefully on July 25th, 2025, at the age of 84.

After graduating from Campbell Hall High School in Studio City, Jill met the love of her life, Cal Johnson. They were married on October 23rd, 1959, at the stunning Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes. For the first few years of their marriage, Cal and Jill made their home in Torrance, California, where they welcomed three sons: Tyler, Clint and Tod.

Cal and Jill were later introduced to the small town of Three Rivers, California, by close family friends.

Drawn to its scenic charm and the warmth of its close-knit community, they made it their home in

1965. It was there that they built a life of deep-rooted bonds, lifelong friends, and treasured memories. For 59 beautiful years, they shared this life together, until Cal's passing in 2018.

Jill dedicated herself to raising her boys with love and devotion. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her own family, touching the lives of countless children through her earlier years as a beloved teacher's aide at Three Rivers Union School. Jill was adored by the children in the community, who found in her a source of kindness, encouragement, and playful wisdom.

She had an unmistakable joy for life. She was a force on the tennis court in her younger years and a spirited pickleball cheerleader later in life, perhaps most legendary at the ping pong table. Her sharp reflexes and cunning spin made her a near-impossible opponent, even for the youngest and quickest players. She played with astonishing skill and passion right up until the final weeks of her life, rarely beaten and always admired.

Jill's compassionate spirit extended far beyond her family and friends. A true lover of animals, she became affectionately known as somewhat of an "animal whisperer," effortlessly connecting with creatures great and small. Her ranch was a haven, where she raised llamas and once rescued a baby deer named Robin in the 1980s, raising it with compassion and care.

Jill was a steadfast member of the Three Rivers First Baptist Church, her faith in Jesus Christ anchoring her life and inspiring those around her. Her devotion, kindness, and boundless generosity made her a pillar of the community, one whose absence will be deeply felt.

Jill leaves behind a cherished family: her son Tyler and his wife Teddi, her son Tod and his wife Joyce; stepsons Ron and Craig; her adored grandchildren Jesse, Beth, Ryan, Meg, Nick, Jake, and Evan; and her great-granddaughter Jennie. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Cal, her son Clint, her step grandson Philip, her mother Helen, and her father Jack.

To know Jill was to be loved by her. Her legacy lives on in every heart she touched—with laughter, stories, shared meals, and moments of quiet understanding. She was truly one of a kind.
