Jean Marie Hogue, 89 of Exeter, was born April 23, 1932 in Pottawattimic County, Iowa and passed away Monday, August 31, 2021 at Delta Nursing and Rehab in Visalia, after a long and vibrant life. She came to Exeter in 1959 and began a new life with her young family. She worked a few different jobs and forged many friendships. Her last job was with Smith Family Chapel who took her in as family. She loved seeing and comforting so many of the people she had known for years. It brought great joy to her during her last few years of working.
She loved going to her church, playing bunco and having friends come to play dice, as well as having dinner parties and special events. She was famous for her enchiladas, cinnamon rolls, and her wonderful chocolate sheet cake. She was a wonderful Mother, G0randmother, GG and friend who was always there to listen, lend a hand, or take flowers to someone in need.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Short Hogue in 1977. She has 5 children, Alan Sherer and his wife Debbie; Susan Sherer Rath; Mike Sherer and his wife Susie; Cindy Hogue Miller and her husband Roger; and Denny Hogue and his wife Janet. She was fortunate enough to have 9 grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. She had 4 siblings with only one surviving sister, Judy Gibson.
The family would like to thank Delta Nursing & Rehab for their wonderful care and kindness.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Smith Family Chapel on Friday, September 10th at 10:00 A.M. Visitation is private.
