Esther Baum

Esther Marie Baum passed away peacefully at her home in Exeter Ca surrounded by her loved ones. She passed away on May 30. 2022 at the age of 93. She was born in Crocket Ca in 1929. She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Baum of 44 years, her son Charles P. Baum, and her 2 son-in -laws Roy S. Kubiak and Gary W. Perkins. She will be lovingly remembered by her 5 children Mary Hunt (George), Janice Baum, Joseph Baum, Rosemarie Kubiak, and Raynee Perkins, her 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.  

Esther and James raised their 6 children in West Pittsburg. In her younger years Esther spent her time supervising at a cannery, then a nursing assistant for the elderly. In 1998 she moved to Exeter Ca to be closer to her youngest daughter Raynee and family. When her youngest grandchildren Eli and Jamie went to school, she volunteered in classrooms at Lincoln Elementary School and Rocky Hill and continued spending her time helping to prevent young children from falling behind academically. She also enjoyed supporting the PTA and joining class field trips. Esther also welcomed girl scouts in her home for weekly meetings and enjoyed teaching them to sew quilts in order to fundraise and adopt families during Christmas time. Her Volunteering earned her the 2014, Heritage Award from Exeter Chamber of Commerce. 

In her free time, you could catch Esther in the kitchen cooking, gardening, or crocheting. Esther’s door was always open to everyone. Esther will be remembered as a loving, helpful woman who was always willing to do anything she could to help someone or put a smile on their face. 

Our family would like to thank Kaweah Hospice for their guidance and loving care of our mother. Most importantly the family would like to thank Dave Hobson for his unconditional love and caring of our mother. Dave made it possible for her to remain in her home until she went to be with the lord. 

The Funeral service will be held on June 6th at Smith Family Chapel at 10 am.
