Elmer Henry Kampsen
Elmer Henry Kampsen, 86, of Visalia, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021. He was born January 14, 1935, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Clara (Latus) Kampsen. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy Reserves and pursued a career at Jostens Yearbook. Elmer married the love of his life, Donna Luella Paramore, on October 17, 1954, in Topeka, Kansas. In 1964, he accepted a transfer with Jostens and moved his wife and young family to Visalia, CA. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and was well-known for his love of family and his faith in God. He was a member of First Baptist Church (currently Gateway) where he taught Sunday School. He also served as a discussion leader for Men’s Bible Study Fellowship. His hobbies included gardening and a love of sports, especially baseball. He loved following the St. Louis Cardinals and watching all sports played by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Elmer retired from Jostens after 48 years of service and then enjoyed spending more time with family and working with Donna at their family-owned bookstore, Scripture House. He is survived by his wife, Donna Kampsen; 5 children, Steve (Susan) Kampsen, LuAnn (Ken) Owens, Becky (Bryan) Prosser, Angie (Dan) Cloutier, and Jill (Garrett) Maze; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, and 2 sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, and 2 sisters. A celebration of Life service will be 1 pm, Tues. Nov. 30, 2021, at Gateway Church, 1100 S. Sowell St., Visalia. Memorial contributions may be made to Gateway Church.
