Clarence Summers Obituary

Clarence “Butch” Summers was born on March 28, 1944, in Delano, CA. He attended elementary, middle, and high school in Bakersfield, CA. During high school, he met his wife Bertha and they were married 61 years. As a young man with a family, he started his career at General Cable in Lindsay, CA, then owned several businesses, and later retired as an Agriculture Inspector with the USDA.

Butch loved the outdoors his entire life. He enjoyed many of these activities with his family including water skiing, fishing, hunting, and camping. He was an avid pool “billiards” player and would challenge anyone willing to lose. He spent many years racing stock cars at Rocky Hill Speedway in Porterville, CA. He later raced Legend cars alongside his son. Butch has many lifelong friends, most of them made stronger through these activities.

He is survived by his wife Bertha, daughters Linda and Alexa, and son John. He is preceded in death by his daughter Julie. He is also survived by his sister Alberta (Aldo) Angone, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11:00 am, at First Missionary Baptist Church, 165 E. Putnam Ave., Porterville, CA, 93257.
