Charlie Dodd
Charlie Dodd passed away peacefully at home with his wife of 53 beautiful years, Brenda, by his side. Charlie served our community in many different roles through the years. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the 101st Airborne. He owned Dodd’s Tire with his brother Harley Dodd. He also owned and operated The Pizza Place with locations in Woodlake and Exeter. He served as Woodlake Constable and later became an elected Marshall for Tulare County. Somehow in the midst of all this, he still found time to coach football. He was a beloved and highly respected football coach. Charlie is credited with starting the Pop Warner Program in Woodlake and he also coached Woodlake High Junior Varsity teams. He positively impacted so many young players. He taught them life lessons about discipline, hard work and perseverance. The loss of Charlie has left a huge space in all our hearts. The wisdom and guidance he gave us through the years will continue to shape our lives as we move forward without him. Charlie always said “it is what it is” with that no nonsense attitude; and he had a way of making any situation seem clearer while encouraging us to take life as it comes and make the best of it. Charlie has left an indelible mark on our family and many others simply by being himself. We each have a multitude of “Charlie stories” and we will continue to share these stories through the years ahead. He will forever be missed and always remembered for the immense impact he had on each of us. Charlie was preceded in death by his Mother, Billie Maze, Father Coy Dodd, and Brother Harley Dodd. Charlie is survived by his wife, Brenda, son, Darrell Dodd (Heidi and daughter Alena), his grandchildren, Zoe Bartish (Vadym), Zach Dodd, great granddaughter Ophelia Grace Bartish, sister Sandy Dodd Eggleston (Randy), sister in laws, Gail Dodd Imoto (Gordon), Donnie (Sam) Carr, Sheryl (Reg) Bowdler, Susie (Dan) Qualls, brother in law, Bill Loftis and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie had a large family who loved him deeply. Although, there are no services planned; we just ask that you take a moment to think of a “Charlie story”. He was a unique and remarkable man and there will never be another Charlie Dodd.
