Bill Casto Simmons
June 16, 1938 – January 30, 2025
Bill Casto Simmons, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Exeter, California, on January 30, 2025. Born in Pikeville, Tennessee, on June 16, 1938, to Buck and Mabel (Gilbert) Simmons, Bill's life was a testament to resilience, hard work, and devotion to the things he loved.
Despite only receiving a third-grade education, Bill entered the workforce at the young age of eight, running a team of mules in and out of the coal mines. At 13, he moved to Exeter, California. When he was 15, he started a new chapter with Gill Cattle Company, where he lived and worked on the ranch.
Bill's determination and entrepreneurial spirit led him to a successful career in the tire industry. In 1974, he founded Simmons Tire, a business he started in his garage, which became a symbol of his hard work and dedication.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Bill had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, which he loved to ride and build. He also raised registered Black Angus cattle and cherished his time with his horses.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Sandra Simmons. He is survived by his son Tom Simmons, his son Russell Simmons, and his daughter Vicki Goodman. He is also survived by his grandchildren Shannon Wiley, Kenny Goodman, Clayton Simmons, Colton Simmons, Leyton Simmons, Dustin Simmons, Caiden Simmons, and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Exeter Cemetery.
